Fixing the Barn

The foundation on the north side of the barn at the home farm was crumbling. Pretty soon the north wall was going to kick off that failing foundation. We didn’t want to see the barn fall in a heap, so we called that most excellent contractor[1] Tim Reynolds to fix it up.

Tim came this week, jacked the barn up, and poured new footers.

Now, I have every confidence in Tim’s work, but it makes me really uneasy to walk under the barn now.

Tim will pour walls on Monday to set the barn framing back down on, and we’ll all be much happier when walking underneath the barn.

1. You call Tim. He comes out when he says he will. He gives you an estimate. He does the work he said he’ll do when he said he’ll do it, and charges you what he said he would. And he does it filled with joy. Favorite nephew Tom said, watching Tim work this week, “I’ve never seen someone have so much fun pouring concrete.”

Looking good. Here it is with its new foundation and steel supports.
