Tales from Skunk Hill

Yesterday

Yesterday this was as pretty as corn field as you’d ever want to see. Then we got 3.25 inches of rain last night.

Another field underwater.

Oh, well. At the least the wheat looks good.

You can see one of the flooded corn fields in the upper right.

On the plus side when I went back to look at the field in the second picture there was bald eagle sitting in the field. Magnificent!

Well, like the Bible says, “the rain falls on the just and unjust alike,” (Matt 5:45)

I’m not saying which side of that we fall on, but all our neighbors are sharing in the bounteous rainfall too.

Dan, that reminded me of a time, 30 years ago I’d guess, when that same field flooded. When the water started going down the water ponded in the field had no path back to river.

    Good times!

I wonder if that eagle was doing the same thing, catching fish that were stranded in the field?
