Merry Christmas

We had planned to have a Christmas celebration with Debbie’s family on the 26th at our house. But there’s a winter storm forecast for tomorrow in our area, so after many phone calls back and forth the family decided to gather today rather than chance the weather tomorrow.

Presents were wrapped a day early, food was pulled out of the refrigerator, miles were driven, and we all came together a day early.

We snacked and opened gifts and snacked and had dinner and played games and laughed. Owen and Spenser (the wonder dogs) cruised for treats and loving. Missy called from Alaska (who told her about the new schedule?) A hectic day, things accelerated and scattered and forgotten. And a sad day, a Christmas without my mother-in-law Sharon.

My feet were aching at the end of the day. I was sitting by the door as everyone was gathering their belongings to leave. My niece Madison, Gretchen and Chris’ daughter, was sitting behind me and said in a quiet voice, “It’s been such a nice Christmas.”

Madison doesn’t say much and doesn’t draw attention to herself, so when she says something you tend to listen. I was fortunate to be sitting there at that moment, and I thought, “yeah, you’re right. It has been a very nice Christmas.” [1]

I hope your Christmas was nice too!

That is pretty funny. I didn’t do it either, but I wish I did.

I’m always surprised at the sweet thoughts you have and that most people wouldn’t suspect were there. Merry Christmas. Love Anne
