I’m less woeful today. The combine mechanic came out yesterday and for a mere 400 dollars welded the combine of a million pieces into a single functioning machine. Something I want to do before I get old is take welding classes and learn how to weld like a pro. Although, honestly, paying Rob the mechanic to climb inside that combine in this heat and weld for two hours was well worth 400 dollars to me.
We finished up our wheat harvest, sent another 3 semi-loads off to be grist for the mill, and got ready to bale straw. 103 degrees here today. The straw baling can wait until next week when it’s supposed to be 20 degrees cooler.
