And it was a good idea.  It made an absolutely delicious pasta sauce.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin:10px; padding: 10px; background: #FFFEEB; border: 1px solid black;\">\n<b>Mushroom Sauce for Pasta<\/b><br \/>\n<i>For 2<\/i><br \/>\n1\/2 pound of mushrooms, whatever you have, button are fine, shiitake, portobello, porcini, etc would all be nice.<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon mushroom powder<br \/>\n2 cloves garlic, minced<br \/>\na good handful of finely diced red onion (or white or yellow)<br \/>\nBig pinch of marjoram, or a sprig of fresh if you have it<br \/>\n2 cups chicken broth<br \/>\n1 cup cream<br \/>\nolive oil<br \/>\nsalt and pepper<br \/>\npasta<\/p>\n<p>Trim off any stalks or other tough bits and cut the mushrooms into bite sized pieces<br \/>\nPut the mushroom trimmings in a pan with 2 cups of chicken broth and the mushroom powder<br \/>\nBring to a boil and simmer until reduced by half<\/p>\n<p>Heat a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a pan<br \/>\nAdd the onion and cook until translucent<br \/>\nAdd the mushrooms with a good pinch of salt and the marjoram<br \/>\nCook until nicely browned<br \/>\nAdd the garlic and cook for a minute or so until fragrant<br \/>\nAdd the cream<br \/>\nStrain the chicken stock into the pan with the mushrooms and onions and garlic<br \/>\nSimmer for a few minutes<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile cook your pasta, when it&#8217;s ready stir the pasta into the sauce, add salt and pepper to taste, and grate parmesan cheese over it to taste.<\/p>\n<p>Eat the pasta, then lick the sauce off the plate, it&#8217;s that good.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mushroom powder &#8211; the splendid source.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5105","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-cooking"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5105","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=5105"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5105\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=5105"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=5105"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=5105"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
