Language smackdowns aside, progress on the Big Stone Cooking Area continues to be rapid. Jay the mason says the bossman’s talking weekend overtime again on his day job, so he’s been pushing it on the weekends.<\/p>\n

Flagstone Cap on Flue<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Jay used flag stone to cap the flue between the firepit and the smoker.<\/p>\n

Frying Area<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Our gas ring for frying will be mounted in this open area. Jay used more of the flag stone for the back of this area. <\/p>\n

Chimney Stone<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Cleanout Door<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The cleanout door on the smoker. So when we drop a chunk of smoked meat we don’t have to try to fish it out from the top.<\/p>\n

The Firepit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The firepit has all its firebrick in place. Jay will top it with pieces of the same flagstone used to cover the flue.<\/p>\n

Almost all the stone is on now. Just a little bit to fill in on top of the still-to-be-done countertop.<\/p>\n

The Sniff Test<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Spenser is giving it the sniff test as only a beagle (or a least half-beagle) can. <\/p>\n

I think it looks good in the pictures, but the pictures don’t begin to do it justice. It is a work of art in real life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
