We planted this field April 22nd<\/p>\n

It rained the next day, so we didn’t get a chance to spray it for weeds.<\/p>\n

It then continued to rain for an almost Biblical 40 days.\u00a0 Finally, today, May 26,\u00a0 I was able to get on it to spray.\u00a0 It was wet, but I was able to get over without tearing things up.\u00a0 I was sailing along, everything going good, I was happy, singing along with the country music radio, when with about 5 acres to go the skies opened in a Biblical deluge.<\/p>\n

Absolutely no rain in the forecast, this was totally out of nowhere.\u00a0 I sat in the sprayer and watched it rain and when it finally lightened up I walked across the field to our semi tractor-trailer spray tender to head home.<\/p>\n

I’d parked on the edge of the road and when I started off the truck slid down into side ditch and was hopelessly stuck.<\/p>\n

“Well,”\u00a0 I said, “this is a real pickle.”\u00a0 Not really, what I actually said was, “!@#$%^^&.”\u00a0 But I gathered myself and called Lana (cell phones, how’d we ever farm without them?) and we drove the Mx170 down there and drug the semi out.\u00a0 Of course, the neighbors were driving down the road at the same time, so we got so share our misfortune.\u00a0 Or they got to appreciate their good fortune.\u00a0 Whatever.<\/p>\n

I was bit frustrated by this time.\u00a0 So I figured I’d drive into town and get a nice bottle of wine.\u00a0 After all, Paul told Timothy to drink a little wine for his stomach’s sake.\u00a0 And my stomach was surely in need of something to untie the knots.\u00a0 And I don’t get a mile from the field and there’s absolute no rain.\u00a0 The neighbors are baling hay and raising dust!<\/p>\n

I don’t really believe it’s personal.\u00a0 I don’t think God, Allah, my lack of karma, whatever, contributed to this.\u00a0 I’m just saying, if you happen to be in the vicinity of County Road 450 E and Crone Road, you may want to build ye an ark.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
