{"id":106,"date":"2010-01-03T19:42:03","date_gmt":"2010-01-04T00:42:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/?p=106"},"modified":"2010-01-03T19:42:03","modified_gmt":"2010-01-04T00:42:03","slug":"cooking-in-the-new-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/?p=106","title":{"rendered":"Cooking in the New Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight&#8217;s the last night of a long holiday season of eating excess.\u00a0 I cleaned out the fridge and made a couple of pizzas.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/picture-039.jpg\" alt=\"2 pizzas\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the left is pepperoni, tomato, pesto, and roasted garlic cheese, on the right is caramelized onion, olive, sun-dried tomato, garlic, red roasted peppers, and feta.<\/p>\n<p>The crust is a simple one based on a recipe from Mark Bittman&#8217;s &#8220;How to Cook Everything.&#8221;\u00a0 Flour, cornmeal, olive oil, yeast, and water.\u00a0 I used cornmeal I made from some white open-pollinated corn I grew from seeds I got from Sam Taulbee.\u00a0\u00a0 He called it &#8220;hillbilly corn.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 We lost Sam in 2009 to pancreatic cancer.\u00a0 I knead cornmeal he was the source of here in 2010 and in just a few months I&#8217;ll be planting seeds from the corn he gave me.\u00a0 Life is short and sweet and sad and very, very good.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re enjoying the pizzas with a cheap Prosecco\u00a0 we intended to take to a New Year&#8217;s Eve party and forgot.\u00a0 Tomorrow will be all about vegetables and fruits and whole grains.<\/p>\n<p>Cheers!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight&#8217;s the last night of a long holiday season of [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-106","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-cooking"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/106","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=106"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/106\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=106"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=106"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/chuckzumbrun.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=106"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
