The pergola continues to rise to the sky.
The grapevine that will hang on this arbor is sprawling in the foreground of the picture.
The posts are in and as plumb and square as they’re gonna get. I have the outside frame attached and all the inner frame cut and ready to hang. I decided I wanted to double the long beams, adding another 2 x 8 to them to make them a 4 x 8. I consulted with my construction engineering nephew Tom who told me a 2 x 8 had plenty of strength to span 10 feet, but I just wanted more heft to attach the cross members to.
So off to town tomorrow to pick up a couple of 2 x 8’s and then it should be a short matter to finish it up.
