I’ve ranted about Google before and I’m going to do it again. I’m sick and tired of them. They rake in gazillons of dollars selling ads, they recruit the best and brightest of programmers, they have drooling legions of fanboys that would make even Apple green with envy, they have all resources in the world at their fingertips, and their applications are pure crap.

Today I wanted to post a comment to that most excellent blogger, Butterby. She uses Google’s brain-dead blog software, Blogger. I wrote my carefully crafted and thoughtful reply to her carefully crafted and thoughtful blog post, chose “Google Account” as my profile, clicked “Post Comment”, and was immediately taken to a web page to sign up for a Blogger account.

Dummies at Google? Are you listening? I DON’T WANT TO SIGN UP FOR A BLOGGER ACCOUNT!!! I WANT TO POST A FREAKING COMMENT!!! That is why I pressed “Post Comment.” That is neither hard to understand nor hard to program. What is the matter with you people?

I searched around on the Internet and found that many people have this problem and the best solution is that canonical goto for web programmers, “clear your cache and cookies.” I did that, and had no better results.

So anyway, Butterby, if you happen to read this, your latest post rocked!

zumbrun.net – bought to you, as always, entirely Google-free.

Thanks Chuck! Stupid blogspot. You’re not the only person who has had trouble commenting. Thanks for reading anyway. Just found out that wordpress has an import feature that lets you transfer all your old content. I’ll do some research. You know, Missy is the one who gave me the name Righteous Ronnie. Turns out it fits me perfectly!

Today’s news reports Google fired its CEO of 1 1/2 years and will no doubt be purchased by another enterprise.
The firing was described as “unseemly and abrupt.” What else given the corporate climate and ethics you describe.

I saw NPR’s Science Friday subject for this week and thought of you. I’ll try to be listening in case you call in! LOL
